That’s why KNOWRON gives you two powerful ways to interact with your data:

  • Assistant: ask questions in natural language, get contextual and brief answers, and as the main entry point to a variety of skills
  • Search: filter, navigate, and verify information with precision.

Each mode is designed for different needs — and together, they give your teams speed and trust.

The Assistant: Ask in Natural Language — and Do Much More

The Assistant isn’t just for asking questions — it’s your entry point to a variety of skills. As the name suggests, it’s there to assist you with real tasks, not just information retrieval.

Behind the scenes, an orchestration layer interprets what you want, selects the right tools and capabilities, and then executes the task seamlessly. This means the Assistant can both plan and act, giving you a smooth, natural way to get things done. (We won’t dive deeper into orchestration today, but keep in mind: it’s what makes the Assistant more than just a search box.)

The KNOWRON Assistant in your Trial environment

How it works

  • You ask in natural language.

Example: “How do I reset the MPC 3000?” → the Assistant surfaces the exact procedure from the manual, with references.

Imagine you’re working on a support desk:

  2. You follow up: “Write an email response to Customer X explaining the solution.” → the Assistant drafts the reply for you.
  3. Finally: “Translate it into Spanish.” → the Assistant delivers a ready-to-send version in the required language.

All in one flow, without switching tools or copy-pasting between systems.

Current & Future Skills

Today, the Assistant already supports:

  • Generating customer support replies.
  • Translating answers into multiple languages.

Future skills will expand into:

  • Guided troubleshooting checklists.
  • Preventive maintenance suggestions.
  • Parts ordering workflows.
  • Inspection protocols for compliance-ready reports.
  • Creating shift reports from interaction logs.

For technicians, managers, and support teams alike, the Assistant is the fastest and most natural way to interact with KNOWRON - and the capabilities will only grow.

Coming Soon: Focused vs. Open Mode

KNOWRON’s Assistant is designed to adapt to different contexts through modes of operation. By default, it runs in Focused Mode, meaning it only answers queries using your organization's internal knowledge base. This ensures compliance, security, and accuracy for enterprise workflows.

Soon, a new Open Mode will become available. With this setting, administrators can expand the Assistant’s scope to include the model’s broader training knowledge. In this mode, the Assistant behaves more like a general-purpose AI companion and can:

  • Search beyond your data: answer questions that aren’t yet covered in your knowledge base.
  • Assist creatively: brainstorm ideas, rephrase text, or provide general insights.
  • Act like other AI assistants: support both company-specific and open-ended tasks.

The difference is clear:

  • Focused Mode (default): restricted to your company’s internal data → best for compliance, security, and accurate answers.
  • Open Mode: combines enterprise knowledge with general AI capabilities → best for creative, exploratory, or cross-domain tasks.

With these modes, the Assistant can be both a trusted enterprise guide and a flexible creative partner - depending on your needs.

The Search: Expert Mode for Precision and Control

Search in KNOWRON is built for experts who already have a sense of what they’re looking for and want to get there fast. Unlike the Assistant, which focuses on natural-language interaction and multi-step tasks, Search combines answer generation with classic keyword search tools — giving technicians full control.

How it works

  • Enter a keyword or phrase, and KNOWRON generates a direct answer where possible.
  • Use exact match queries with quotation marks (“…”) or filters for product groups and document types to narrow down.
  • Browse results with inline previews — KNOWRON highlights the relevant section directly in the PDF or file.

Example: An experienced technician needs the wiring diagram for a pump.

  • They search: “Pump installation instructions” → KNOWRON not only highlights the right section but also generates an answer summarizing the critical steps.
  • If needed, the technician can open the source document instantly for deeper context.

  • Speed: go straight to the relevant section of a document.
  • Transparency: every answer can be verified by clicking into the original source.
  • Flexibility: supports both modern AI-driven answers and traditional keyword search with operators.

Typical Use Case

A field technician under time pressure:
They already know the error code or part they need and don’t want to type full natural-language questions. Search allows them to simply type “Error 0x57 cooling system” or “bearing 242 replacement procedure” and jump directly to the right answer with source context.

For these expert users, Search is about speed with control — retrieving exactly what’s needed without noise.

Why Both Matter: Search & Assistant

With all these capabilities, the distinction and complementarity between Assistant and Search becomes even clearer:

  • The Assistant is intent-driven. It orchestrates tasks, executes multi-step workflows, and can now operate in Focused or Open Mode, depending on whether you want strict enterprise compliance or broader, creative support. It’s the right choice when you need guidance, automation, or help beyond just finding a document.
  • Search is precision-driven. It’s built for experts who already know what they need and want exact answers — supported by keyword operators, filters, and direct source previews. It’s the right choice when speed, control, and verification are the top priorities.

Together, they form a complementary system:

  • Assistant = breadth, orchestration, and action.
  • Search = depth, precision, and control.

This dual approach ensures that every user — from a field technician under pressure to a support agent drafting multilingual replies — has the right tool at their fingertips.
